Look at these little nuggets!!! They turned 3 months yesterday!!!
We met with the legislative aide (Kate) to Senator McDonnell. They are extremely interested in drafting a bill and taking it to legislation in January. Missi and I will have to go to Lincoln to testify. The ACLU will be joining the fight. Kate seemed hopeful…but we have to get through to the old white men on the floor. Lol.
We probably won’t hear much for a month or so… Kate is going to do some research and talk to the ACLU to jointly start drafting the bill.
What we are asking for is to add a gestational carrier piece to the current surrogacy law. That would add a pre birth order which would avoid the whole relinquishment of parental rights and adoption. The mother would then go on the birth certificate at birth (not the carrier).
If we can’t amend the current statute then we will have to draft a new one. We are waiting to hear on that. But the new one would ask for the same thing.
Kate plans to “drop the bill” the first day of legislation (first week in Jan). She said it’s a short session so everything is done within 60 days. So come January… it’s kinda balls to the wall.
Until then… we just correspond with her as needed.
Pretty crazy they didn’t even HESITATE to pick this up! Here we go!!!!!
Last night I got to hang out with Missi and the girls! It had been a bit since I had seen them… I’ve been busy at work and home. The girls are doing so well! They are getting big! They both have entered that stage where they smile. It’s so fun! Here are some pics!!!
They both have such unique personalities. Tierney is more laid back and chill. Ashlynn is more expressive and social. I can see in 5 years, Ashlynn is gonna be a little troublemaker and Tierney will be taking the blame to protect her sister. That’s what I predict 😜
Hope y’all had a good weekend!
Missi and Court are doing well. Court has been working a lot so Missi has really gotten the hang of taking care of both girls by herself!
I have been working on getting my body back! I’m finally 4 lbs under my prepregnancy weight, which is exciting.
We had a huge flow of media requests about a week ago. It seems as though Julie Cornell’s story (KETV) caused the story to go viral! We had media requests from international magazines, Inside Edition, and even People Magazine! The Omaha World Herald (local newspaper) is currently working on a big story that will be on Omaha.com and in the printed newspaper. So that’s kinda cool! The media requests have died down now, which we are totally ok with! It was kind of overwhelming!
Here is KETV’s story that went viral:
My life is getting back to normal!!! Now it’s time for the roller coaster of parenting for Missi and Court!
And this video!!!!
We were contacted by People to do an article! Crazy! Here is the link:
